We joined <bold>FUNDAEC</bold> NGO to work on the <bold>Transforming the Environment Program</bold> in Colombia to enhance access to education and integrate sustainable agricultural practices within rural communities.

All the achievements of our programs are recognized (especially by the European Commission (EC) and the United States) as a solution to climate change and creating more employment opportunities and a greener economy. However, the latter effect is more eminent in countries with more socio-economic disparities and vulnerable populations.

European Commission (EC)

European environmental law includes provisions aimed at improving air and water quality, waste management, biodiversity protection, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Planting Hope-supported programs comply with European environmental laws by promoting sustainable development, environmental protection, and social participation.

European Environmental Law

The Planting Hope project aligns with international efforts to improve the climate and environment. The first legally binding treaty on climate change is the Paris Agreement, in which more than 190 countries agreed to take steps to reduce global warming. The reduction will be made through:

<li>Reducing greenhouse emissions through actions for low greenhouse gas emissions,</li><li>Preservation and strengthening of forests,</li><li>Educating, training, and increasing public awareness and public access to information.</li>

Sustainable Development Goals include 17 goals set in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly (UN-GA) to achieve a better and more sustainable future for the whole world. These goals are intended to be achieved by 2030. Planting Hope program activities contribute to 10 of these goals:

Litchi is a subtropical, evergreen tree that originated in Asia and has worldwide consumption.

Caimito Morado is an evergreen tree native to Colombia.  

Marañon is an evergreen tree that originated in northeastern Brazil and is native to Colombia.

Zapote is a tropical, ornamental, and evergreen tree native to Mexico and Central America cultivated for its fruits.

Aguacate is native to Colombia and has high nutritional and medicinal values.
