Objectives
Environmental Health Program
The Environmental Health Program-Tree Planting Project (EHP-TPP), led by the Inshindo Foundation in Zambia, promotes learning through four elements: education, development, knowledge generation, and collaboration. Here are the objectives of each element.
Education: The program aims to raise environmental awareness and develop practical skills through both scientific information and ethical beliefs. It will host meetings, seminars, and discourses about environmental health and explore broader opportunities to enhance sustainability. By continually integrating new findings, the program will inform and engage the community on environmental issues while providing detailed guidance on practices like tree planting and effective waste management.
Development: The program emphasizes tree conservation, the creation of botanical gardens, and the development of orchards near community education centers. These activities are designed to promote local eco-friendly businesses, such as nurseries and honey production, contributing to both environmental sustainability and economic development.
Generation, Application, and Diffusion of Knowledge: The goal is to document and disseminate knowledge about the community’s environmental practices. Activities will include cataloging indigenous trees, exploring their cultural significance, and assessing local attitudes towards environmental care. The program will maintain a growing scientific database and collaborate with local farmers to ensure up-to-date information, aiding in the effective application of environmental knowledge.
Collaboration: Collaborative efforts will enhance understanding and integration of government environmental policies by working with municipal and district departments. It will also build strategic partnerships with organizations with a common purpose to learn from and contribute to broader environmental initiatives.
Fostering Business and Climate Action Program 2024-2026 (In progress)
Based on the years of experience FUNDAEC has developed a three-year project whose main aims are to:
contribute to food security by granting communities access to fruit trees
promote soil recuperation through the establishment of local compost spaces
enhance the economic viability of small businesses—which can further support the previous two aspects at the local level.
In the first year, the project will set up a demonstration nursery at the FUNDAEC Education Center in Perico Negro, which will serve as the main nursery for the region and help establish offshoot nurseries. The project will develop educational material to train individuals in the creation of market gardens and compost production. Two communities will be selected for the start of the project, each of which will receive an offshoot nursery and a compost production site (business).
The world needs hope to survive. We plant hope to build a better future.
Transforming the Environment Program
The Transforming the Environment Program is led by the FUNDAEC Foundation, Crealo Foundation, community leaders, and local volunteers in Colombia. This program pursues several interconnected objectives:
Advance reforestation and improve environmental health in the area by focusing on planting trees, with a special emphasis on restoring native species.
Boost food security for rural communities by promoting the cultivation of fruit trees as part of their dietary options.
Facilitate programs designed to foster collective service projects that transcend individual efforts and encourage a more organized and holistic approach to community initiatives.
Motivate communities to participate in systematic and collective efforts within a unified project, enhancing engagement from various generations of community members and cooperation with a wide array of organizations and groups.
Establish nurseries within communities to grow trees for local use, functioning both as a source for tree provision and as a potential small business opportunity for community members.
